political posts usually wind up getting a bit dicey.
BUT- No, i do not believe in taxing the rich. Much of the 'rich' are small business owners who either create jobs or buy a ton of stuff to keep the economy moving. If you tax them to death- then you move their money from the public to the government sector. Then where does it go?
Look at the Regan years. Once taxes were lowered- the economy took off!

I am far from rich, I see my personal and property taxes rise every year and for what? MY roads are still crap, my state is broke, my tolls keep going up, gas keeps going up and i have much less to spend.

IN short, Lower taxes= higher investment=more opportunities for everyone to make it.

Remember- you have to work to make it in life, but you need the opportunity to do it

I am a firm believer in controlling gvt spending SO we do not need excessive taxes!

    My rant of the am!

I don't believe large amounts of personal spending from the rich is bad. It is their frivolous and excessive spending that keeps the economy circulating, and it is their accumulation of wealth that creates economic activity.

The economy is about incentives and the ability to work, and they are both worsened by increasing taxes. Let people earn their own money (though of course with some exceptions, like those who really are unable) as that gives them a higher incentive to work and therefore the economy will gain. That being said, I am a firm believer in high government spending on provision of education and health care.

Well, I have mixed feelings. By rich, I hope we're talking about big business. Big business has lined the pockets of most politicians, actively hold positions in regulatory government administrations ( often dictating policy, which go figures, stand really to benefit them not the consumer ), profit in a very large way from the military industrial complex, and aren't accountable to the same standards as small business owners or independent contractors.

Hell, this is a non issue anyway as most of the companies who've helped bankrupt this market have been bailed out anyway, tax and interest free. Our economy needs to recover, probably not through taxation though. I'd rather see wholes of legislative branches and leadership get put on the french chopping block, literally I'm feelin' medieval atm Very Happy, and more responsible and fiscally conservative, absent the moral agenda, leadership put in place.

I agree though GDead, these are quite frustrating times. I live in california and things are just so bad here I'm going to either move to Texas, ugh, or Oregon. Our government does not produce and is much to decentralized and so far removed from its people that we just have to suck it up. Oh, and an fyi everytime I see some stupid public project going on, especially those road projects that always seem to avoid work in the needed areas, I shake my middle finger fervently towards those lazy sacks! I always see like 5 guys bunched together, working hourly under state contract, not doing a damn thing. I need to stop now, but dang man I miss having some spending money and not having to worry so much.

GG and hope to see you on soon bro

    Smile <--- See I'm happy, twasn't a rant, TWASN'T A RANT!

If they are rich there parents/family obviously worked hard to create a buisness that they have worked on and been succesfull. Taxing the rich will just make everyone equal which would be a boring world. eg.Could you imagine going out with everyone wearing the same clothes and eating the same food. I wouldn't consider myself as very rich but I'am well off.
Why worry about taxing 'rich' people ? everyone is (should) be treated the same in life make friends work hard and you could be that 'rich' person. Very Happy

I would totally agree with that. One main way would be Football (soccer) players money.
eg. Cristiano Ronaldo get's paid $16,222,700 a year and got paid £80,000,000 to move from Manchester United to Real Madrid.

For all of you that think we actually tax the rich....wow, how many of you actually keep up with things?

If you're talking about big business, we've got so many loopholes, that the government actually owes big businesses money, they AREN'T paying taxes...

If you're talking about rich people, the 1% of control something like 90% of the wealth in America, then I say tax them properly.

America has insanely high tax rates, for what we recieve in return...."Free Schools" and a Public defender in court, but no medical care...

As for someone who thinks it'd be a boring society where everyone is the same, I'd say there are a billions of people on this planet who would kill to have a taste of what we enjoy and take for granted. Clean drinking water, adequate food, shelter, and education, should be something we all have at the least.

Socialist countries are great, but in a system where no one else is following, its makes it difficult to survive, like California and Cuba for example...

On that note, as long as my government keeps wasting money on the military and its other bullshit, I'm all up for some legal tax evasion myself.

Here's a starter: Live and work where you want, and have your business and finances done in a state with no income tax (Texas)... Usually those places have higher property taxes to compensate, but you don't live there, just have your LLC or company registered there with a P.O. Box and mail forwarding service etc. Nice and legal, but its what big business does on an international scale, and politicians created the laws to allow them and us to do it. If you really get tricky, buy and own property only in places with low property taxes etc. OR work overseas, where the first 80k USD is tax exempt.

Hire a good CPA, they'll show you how to keep most of your money and probably get some of the taxes you paid back, if not all!

Oh, and before you die, make sure you get give your shit away, to avoid the death taxes...Otherwise, the IRS will be grave robbing.

I will answer the statement "socialist countries are great" with two quoutes:

    1. "Some say the government spend money like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because they spend their own money."

    2. "Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem.

Basically, socialist countries are centralized with a central government demanding high taxes, taking responsibility for a lot of the society, usually to such an extent that it compromises individual freedom and free choice.

The people ARE the government, and that is what we are forgetting.

If we tax to rich even more, they will have less incentive to work harder, thus lowering their profit.

I totally understand why people think they should, "THEY HAVE TONS OF FREAKING MONEY!! WHY NOT!?!" Well, the reason why is because they earned it. They knew the game of economy and they played it.

The people who aren't rich, (don't mean to offend anyone) but they don't know how to spend their money. I mean, whenever they get their big fat social security check for their children, most of them buy nice things for the house and such. But that isn't bad! They want to have possessions and that is no problem. But the thing they should realize is a simple quote that tons of business men use around the world, and if you think about it... it actually make a ton of sense. "Make more money with your money." Yeah, that simple.

People who are looking for a short-cut in life are going to get no where, "He who shall not work, shall not eat." That was said hundreds of years ago at James Town. There is something called "Exchange" that we have to remember. We can't expect to be babied if we want to succeed. We need to work hard, invest (to help companies and such) and do something that you like that you can make money off of.

Well, that is all for now Smile Glad to be back Very Happy haha

I have lived in the poorest district in all of america. I know this because I was a part of it. Literally, people would have children so they could live off of their social security checks. Also, if you payed attention to American news at all, you would see so yourself. I don't have the figures, because I don't need them. As I said, I have been through the whole situation, and it sucks.

No, I'm of course not talking about the US. Glenn Beck and Co are maniacs. What I am trying to say is that the whole idea around socialism is maybe the greatest idea, in theory, since Einstein's matter-energy equations. However, what works in theory does not always work in real life. Thus examples of this have been seen in countries like; China, Soviet Union, South East Asia, Central and South America. What Drunken is talking about how the government IS the people, is stating what most liberal politicians mean; exactly that the government is created to serve the good of the members of a society, not that the members of society are to serve the government.

What I said earlier came out too edgy, and I am sorry for that. However, my thesis still stands, 1. the US has drifted away from sensible Reagonomics, and 2. All tough really socialist countries are becoming more and more rare many politicians still cling unto an ideology that has been forged at a desk and not by real life experience, that for me is one of the decisive arguments in ideological politics.
