    Clan Private Match Dec 26th

    Post by Psyco Karma on Sun Dec 26, 2010 6:51 pm

    It was unexpected with the turnout but, it was fun. I hope we are able to have a lot more of these in the future.

    We had 16 people at the start of the game for Rush. Two squads on each side both teams used the normal game chat. Those that were there post what you liked/disliked and awsome moments that you had/saw in the game.

    I loved having used the game chat, not having to deal with wondering who's saying what. it was very nice : )

    True, if you don't recognize the voice you can see the little speaker thingy go off on the HUD squad list.

    <Oh yeah, uh no, I wasn't there>

    Wish they did like in Red Dead, where you can hear anyone (in addition to your posse/party) who is within a certain distance, and if you can actually see their name then a little speaker icon flashes next to it when they are talking. Easy to figure out who's speaking (especially that game, where you are 'meeting' new people nearly every game).

    I learned I can trow a grenade tru a damn small window on a pretty big distance and kill Moliat on the Heavy MG :cyclops:

    Next to that I learned the other team had a way better battleplan then we did =p

    Well, we did have a good battleplan, but people didn't stick by it.. < biggest problem, when things aren't going as planned, they freak out, compare it witn an anthill, well orginised, but slam the ground with your flat hand and they all run in a different direction!

    We might could have fixed this, by NOT having both squads, in a different xbox party ..
    I mentioned this at start but they wanted each squad to have there own speak .. this way we were playing as a squad, not a team!

    That's my biggest argument against using squad chat rather than an xbox live party. While you gain more efficient squad communications, you lose the larger picture. This did not use to be a problem before since everybody in the clan had been in here for a long time and therefore knew all the tactics inside out. People spoke when needed, and people played damn well together while keeping comms at a minimum. That way we could be 8 people in the party so that the leader could assign squad-specific tasks. We'll get back to that point, we just need to run more squad rush games first so that people get used to playing with each other, and are drilled in our tactics so that they become an intuitive and natural part of everyone's gameplay.

    As for the event yesterday, the main problem in my eyes was that the second squad on team 2 (blizzard's squad) had no defined experienced squad leader. It also had 3/4 new members, making it tough to play as a cohesive units. Don't get me wrong, you all played well, it's just that many of you are new to the clan and do not know our tactics that well. We had recently changed to a policy of being mostly casual when you guys joined, but now we want our professional attitude back, so we're going to start drilling more tactics. For starters, all of you new members need to read this article as it is the culmination of all the experience I gained through playing with DFA a couple of months back. The contents of the article contain the very foundation of how DFA (used to) play the game. It is a natural thing to every old member, now we're going to make it natural for you greenies as well! Smile

    We can just inter-communicate with bullet Morse code.

    i feel as if the squad leaders should recognize when the other squad lead is operating in an area, and cover what he is not doing. When I was in that match, i kept my team coordinated into two man patches covering sides. Neer the end, I had me and marysvillesquid covering the shoreline and the other two {i believe it was noble and stormtrooper,-could be wrong} covering the left flank by the road. the other squad controlled the armor sector with the Apache and the Bradley. that being said, i thought it went pretty well : )

    One of the advantages of 'Team Chat' vs. 'Squad Chat' - you CAN coordinate with the other squad better...

    That's the thing; I value communication across squads higher than within a squad. You can't really organize a good defense without co-ordinating the squads that comprise the team. In my eyes it's either having communicating squad leaders leading squads that can operate effectively without using communications much, or having two independent squad leaders able to co-ordinate the defense without communication but leading independent squads with squad members that do communicate to a great extent.

    This is why I love PC Battlefield communication, it's the best of both worlds. I just wish it could be implemented into more console games.
