    Sniper Practice

Post by L4N6Y on Mon Dec 27, 2010 4:29 pm

Thought it might be cool if we could practice sniping, we'd have a game of squad rush where the defenders can use any class and weapons but the attackers can only go recon with a Bolt Action Sniper Rifle of their choice in order to practice their long range shooting.

    Just an idea Smile

We don't do a whole lot of long range sniping in DFA, but improving sniper skills will help either way, so I see no reason not to do this.

A great sniper can be incredibly lethal, i have seen 1 / 2 snipers covering multiple squads becuz they were no lifers and killed way to good at all distances.
Having 1 great sniper can be a good asset in some maps

Don't get me wrong, we appreciate a good sniper. We just find them to be more efficient at medium-long range rather than really long range. That way you are not beyond the maximum spotting distance (hence providing spotting assistance), more rounds will hit home since you are closer, and you are more available to assaults for re-supplying. In addition you will now be a good spawn-point for the squad since you will be closer to the action than the home base.

Yeah I didn't meant superduper long range, indeed medium-long range

I think if your in the range of getting Marksman shots of about 100-150 then your in reasonable enough distance. You have to be far enough away that some random guy cant just take a few pot shots with a pistol, and yet close enough to effectively cover your team, as well as provide a decent spawn point.

if you are going red dot then how is this sniper training for you?:P

yeah the range should be, when you dont have 12xscope and you can see the enemy's reasonably, that is max

Marksman headshot ~ +75 - +125 is the best range in my opinion.

Well because I'm going to Red Dot my sniper rifle so I can be effective from close to mid-range. So I'll be training on my aiming and reaction time. I thought it made sense. >.>

Just use an ACOG and no scope when you need to. Easy Peasy.

Second that. Try the SV98, the bolt-action with quickest reload between shots and highest magazine bullet count and combine it with ACOG 4x zoom for effective medium to close range combat and magnum ammo for increased one-shot kill-radius. Give it a shot and you'll see the beauty of it!

The Grach, you'll only be using it as a finisher, in which case the Grach is better due to sufficient damage, larger magazine and higher fire rate.

Bullshit, if you come across two enemies you should be SV-98 shooting the first then swapping to the M9 for the second. If your using your pistol only as a finisher your doing it wrong. :P

Be the mole in Whack-A-Mole: find cover, pop up and shoot, duck down while reloading, pop back up and shoot. The whole sequence is done in less than 2 seconds :P
