    Am I doing something wrong?

Post by KennyMcKillmick on Wed Jan 19, 2011 1:04 pm

For some reason, everytime I play recon I end up in the bottom, wtf am I doing wrong ..
I'm not a super-duper-long-range-hiding-bush-w00kie, I am close to the action, I pop motion sensors continiously, and yet I end up in the bottom ..

Now, Teamwork is more important to me, but I play for the top aswell, makes it competative for me, and this seems to be a lot easier for EVERY class then recon for me.
Now I ain't no pro, but I like to own, instead of seeing my select kit screen all the time, I preffer a lot more kills then deaths .. you'd expect a wookie could do that, but it seems some other kits are more lethal .. >.<

Try the SV-98 + Acog or lightweight. I go it all the time (as do Crush), and I constantly get the ace pin with that setup.

Sometimes I pic a NS2000 for CQC and I always find myselve then in long-range enemy's, or SAIGA same story ..
But if I pick a shotgun I could just as well go another class with usefull teamthingies

When I play recon I like to slap a 4x scope on a bolt action to play very aggressively and engage enemies at pretty much any range. The 4x scope seems to make seizing objectives easier than if you run in there with a regular scope.

imo recon is the most effective class.
    It has anti vehicle
    recon
    anti infantry
    long range explosives
    automatic weapons
    high power close range

It's all about experimentation. Swap up kits continually until you 'click'

Mortar strike is long range, but not really effective since it takes time, and even with explo dmg, a stationary veh. is moving before it get's destroyed.
when sniper rifle long range, i don't get many kills, when going medium range, i die to much

maybe i'm just not the 'killer-class' type, i have always had trouble killing people >.<
Maybe just go medic, sit back and gather points for revives and med packs lol

If you go for long range sniping try going for enemy snipers they are by far the easiest ways to get points as they sit still, as long as you move 2 feet left and right every few seconds you generally wont get hit. That of course is predicting that the snipers your up against suck. I dont know how far your "long range" is, but i prefer to be around 150-200 marksman points away. Far enough from front lines to be unaffected by most assaults or medics, but close enough to just be able to mark the enemy snipers.

However, CQC sniping, I would stay within a range of up to 25 marksman points, and go with a bolt action 4X scope. Thats my preferred set-up at least. On hardcore however I almost go exclusively SVU because it allows for silent sniping, while also giving me 2 shot kills.

In a non-hardcore match I find myself doing just fine with a red dot m24. I'm right where the action is if not about 30 yards behind. I go for headshots, but when I miss them I usually hit body. But as soon as the round hits I quickly switch to my trusty handy dandy M9 to put the sucker out. This works at even long ranges for me. Motion mine assists rack up points for me rather quickly actually. You just have to know to throw it when you see friendlys that have been engaged. Blizzard our last match I went Recon red dot for the majority of the time and I ended up grabbing my Ae pin lol. Straight up, you must practice with your weapon to master it. Others get lucky and just find the weapon they click with, but a true warrior learns to master all tools of combat. I'm a DFA Recon in this clan, but you can ask everyone in here that has played with me and they will tell you that they don't always see me snipe. They see me as Medic, assualt and so on. Always move from your kits. If you like sniping good. Just keep practicing on a weapon that is effective in MOST situations. Have fun and join up with other clan members!!!! You will see your hard work pay off.

Blizzard i have too often been sniped on to many maps , but i learnt to watch there positions when i have been killed to work out the sniper spotsthere are loads of them, and there're some popluar ones that many people know of.

It is true that to be an effective sniper you have to be Ultra Lethal to get to the top of the score board by being that Particular type of class, its happened for me once on Africa Harbour 33 kills 20 deaths :face:

You can rip it up as Recon, medium / close, but you need a lot more skill then with any other class

    lol nicely said.
Btw, isn't Shotgun with the accuracy thing + mag ammo the same as a bolt? it's a oneshot up close, a oneshot when headshot medium, only you can combine it with other kits aswell
and you dont need to quick/noscope, you haz +hair

I would try one of these setups with recon:

    T88/SVU
    REX
    C4
    4x Scope
    Mag ammo
This is great for mid range combat where your motion sensors do the most good, and your REX is a beast up close.

    M14/G3
    MP-443 Grach
    C4
    Lightweight equipment (or optics)
    Mag ammo
This is just an all around awesome build. With the ACOG, either of these weapons are good at medium range. They both take some practice, but they can dominate if you learn to use them.

However, I think its worth saying that if you suck as a class, don't kill yourself trying to play it. I've nearly played myself out of this game a couple times trying to get the hang of being a medic until I had an epiphany: I fucking hate playing as a medic. Don't bash your head against a wall doing something that you hate. Just focus on doing what your good at, what you enjoy doing, and become a grand fucking ninja master death dealing hell spawned demon at it.

Think your right there, I love sniping but maybe I'm just not good at it, or it's to hard for me to master ..
